Mommy and Me with My Mommy and Me
All children are artistic! Our program simply presents them with the tools to develop visual perception in a fun and energetic way! Watch your child benefit from an early exposure to art and movement. While you are building your relationship with your children, they are unknowingly improving their motor skills, developing their language, and strengthening their problem solving and critical thinking skills. As they discover new media, like clay and paint, for the first time, they are gaining awareness of the world around them, making their own inventive decisions, and gaining a sense of autonomy.
Meet weekly on a Tuesday or Thursday with other parents of toddlers from 18 months to 3 years in an intimate setting of no more than twelve children. Sessions consist of four weeks for $70 or you can drop in to try the class out one day for $18.
Paint with a Pal
Enjoy the little things in life with your little ones during our Paint with a Pal program. This program is perfect for all ages, from 18 months to 80 years! Three days a week we open our studio to the public for children and their important adult to spend special time together. Our instructors provide support and instruction throughout several projects every time using countless materials, both conventional and not (spoiler alert: you can do a lot with shaving cream!). Use our space to explore your children’s interests in a natural, creative, and encouraging setting!
Come paint with your pal Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9-10:30am, Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 11am-12:30pm or Friday afternoons from 1-2:30pm or 3-4:30pm for $18. We appreciate if you call ahead to reserve your spot, but you are more than welcome to drop in any time if there is space available!
Play is nature's way of getting kids to do the work of growing up. Sensory play includes any activity that stimulates your young child's senses: touch, smell, taste, sight, and hearing. Spending time stimulating their senses helps children develop cognitively, linguistically, socially and emotionally, physically and creatively. Our Simply Sensory program emphasizes process-oriented, explorative art making designed to excite the imagination, curiosity and creativity. This class provides your child with hands-on opportunities to get messy and explore art materials in a safe environment...outside of your home! Come paint with cars, fingers, toes, and more! Explore slime, sound containers, color windows, glue, dough, magnets, flowers, and more! In each class, there is a varied selection of sensory-rich art related projects and activities. When you bring your child to our Simply Sensory program, you are providing him or her with the messy tools for discovery. Life is messy after all!
Drop in any Monday, Wednesday, or Friday from 11am-12pm. $15 per class, $55 for a 4 session pass.
The benefits of construction based activities are astounding for young children. When children are building, they are improving their motor skills and hand-eye coordination, acquiring spatial skills, developing a capacity for creative and divergent thinking, not to mention working on their social and language skills. Children take an immense pride in their creations and hate to clean them up. Well, here, they don't have to! During the Little Builders program, children will have the opportunity to build a new art project each week using different materials, such as wood or clay, that they get to take home with them!
During Crafternoons, the studio offers a stimulating, imaginative and engaging social space where children will work together through language, play, and, of course, art, at their individual comfort level. Our attentive staff is aware of each child’s needs and interests so that they can encourage self-expression, confidence, and self-awareness, Crafternoon projects promote development on both a verbal and nonverbal level through group dialogue, story time, and narrative play, as well as sensory and multimedia art projects. So, feel free to hang around, or run some errands, meet a friend, or just get some much needed “me” time, while your child builds relationships in a fun and healthy learning environment.
Prices vary depending on length of drop off. Let your child play with us for 1 hour for $20 or 2 hours for $38 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 1pm-3pm. If you are more than 15 minutes late picking up your child, you will automatically be charged for the full second hour of the Crafternoon.
Mini Monets After School Art Program
This class provides 5-8 year old artists with a more formal introduction to the wonderful world of creative expression. Teachers present inventive art instruction and projects using professional media. Students unknowingly learn to incorporate basic principles of art and design into their projects as they make observations from nature as well as create purely from their imaginations.
We offer Mini Monet classes Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Each session meets one afternoon a week at 3:30 pm for 90 min. Sessions last for 8 weeks for $240. Payment is due in full at the time of registration, but you may also drop in for a single session for $36.
Mini Monets Class Concepts
Watercolor, gouache, acrylic, tempera, and more! Throughout the 8 weeks of class, the instructor introduces countless paints, brushes, and types of surfaces to paint on so that the children can experiment with countless combinations of artistic expression. These paint-based classes give the budding artist an opportunity to play with different techniques and applications of more sophisticated media. You will be amazed by the masterpieces that your child brings home!
Often in class, the instructor will present an interactive and engaging lesson about a famous artist's methods and concepts. Children can choose to incorporate what they learn into their weekly project or take their own artistic liberties based on their individual interests. In this class we challenge students to think more critically about their artistic decisions as they evolve into mature Michelangelos!
In a world where children are so comfortable putting stylus to tablet and able to press undo when they make a mark they don't like, conventional drawing is often discounted and thrown to the wayside. This class, however, focuses solely on elements of drawing as a solid foundation for artistic growth and expression. Drawing based classes present a new medium to draw and a new element or principle of two dimensional design. Students will learn about line, shape, value/tone, texture, space, and color.
Thursday afternoons are for the less traditional young artists who love to color outside the lines! The supplies may be less conventional, but the art production is just as sophisticated. During this Mini Monet program, students will employ unexpected techniques to create works of assemblage. Every week, they will create a mixed media collage using found objects from the world around them. We provide magazine and newspaper clippings, ribbons, paint, text, photos, natural elements, and more, but we definitely encourage students to think outside the box and bring in anything from outside the studio that they wish to incorporate into their projects. Collages can be as two or three dimensional as they please. This program is the epitome of creative expression for your budding Braques and Picassos.
All That Glitters
You'd be hard pressed to find anything a child loves more than glitter. And nothing a parent likes to have in the house less. That's what we're here for! Come to Rachel's Young At Art Studio to get that sparkle fix in. During this hour long program, we only put out crafts full of glitz and glamor. We have glitter paint, glitter glue, you name it! We will make glitter slime. We will even do some art experiments with prisms to see how they gleam in the light. Rainbows and glitter go hand in hand, don't they?
Come ready to sparkle every Thursday from 1:30pm-2:30pm for $15.
